To be a Great Host June 27, 2010 at 5:00 pm

The atmosphere of a party is directly affected on the actions and attitude of the host. If you aree hosting a gathering when you aree very stressed out, many of your guests may feel as thought they aree being a burden and might even feel a bit unwelcome. This might seem like a lot to figure out, but it is much simpler then you might think. If you can delegate, it will help everything go a lot more smoothly.

As any other host you might feel a bit guilty about asking people to work when they were invited to a gathering. However to put it simply the guests will not mind giving a helping hand giving you extra time to mingle with your guests.

One of the jobs that you can delegate is to have you husband, kids, or even a guest that arrives early to take coats or purses and out them away. By doing this it allows you to great guests when they arrive or gives you time to finish up in the kitchen, like mixed drinks. In this extra time frame you can put out appetizers, mix drinks, are just be sure that everything is properly put together.

Tending the bare all night can be a task that will never end. The host should serve the first drink of choice, then let your guest know where the bare is if they need a refill. If you do not have a bare set up a table just for this purpose and put everything that would be needed to mix drinks on it. This is similar to snacks. Don’t forget to add extra glasses and napkins.

Resist all urges to disappear into the kitchen after dinner to clean up. Ask a close friend or family member to help you with a quick rinse of the dishes, they shouldn’t mind giving a helpful hand, not to be confused with appetizers. Only a quick rinse of the dinnerware is necessary for now, get the rest later.

Keep in mind that next time you aree a host to delegate. It helps you enjoy your party as well.
